Diet plan: Take THIS supplement daily for fast weight loss

A DIET PLAN in which fish oil is taken daily could increase your chances of fast weight loss, according to scientists. Numerous studies have found a link between taking fish oil and losing weight.

A diet plan could be improved drastically by taking fish oil every morning if experts are to be believed.

Various studies have found a link between taking the oil and significant changes to the metabolism, which are likely to boost weight loss.

One study found that taking fish oil could burn the equivalent of 187 calories a day. That is the same as two and half minutes of intense burpees.

The study found that older women who took Omega-3 Fatty acids for 12 weeks had an “increased metabolic rate and fat oxidation at rest and during exercise, decreased resting and exercise heart rate and increased lean mass and physical function.”

The older women’s metabolisms were boosted by 14 per cent, or 187 calories a day.

Another study found that fish oil in young adults raised metabolisms by 3.8 per cent if taken for 12 weeks.

One more 12-week study showed that three grams of fish oil a day increased the metabolism by 5.3 per cent.

In 2009 a study published in Clinical Science found that mice who had Omega-3 fatty acid supplements with a high fat diet had less body fat than those who didn’t - as well as lower cholesterol.

The NHS said: "Oily fish such as salmon, mackerel, sardines are said to help against cardiovascular disease, prostate cancer, age-related vision loss and dementia.

“It's a good source of vitamin D, protein, some B vitamins and selenium. It's also a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids, a type of fat that is good for our health.”

Another early morning diet tip involves eating a food that is high in protein for breakfast - mushrooms.

The mushrooms make dieters feel fuller for longer, and are just as filling as meat, according to scientists.

One study, in particular, found that those who replaced red meat with mushrooms for a year lost half a stone.

There is one snack that can help get rid of belly fat and slim down the thighs.

A recent study in the journal Diabetes, Obesity and Metabolism has discovered nuts could help slimmers lose weight.

Walnuts, in particular, were highlighted for their weight loss benefits.

Why Belly Fat Is The Most Dangerous Body Fat

No matter what you call it, spare tire, pot belly or beer keg, having excess fat in your abdominal area is not a good thing. As a matter of fact, it presents a very serious danger.

Belly fat is not like the fat on other parts of your body. It is far more serious. When you have excess belly fat it increases your risk for things such as:

· Sleep apnea

· Metabolic syndrome

· Diabetes

· Cardiovascular disease

· Breast cancer

The fat that rests between your skin and abdominal wall is known as subcutaneous fat. The next layer of fat, the fat that surrounds your internal organs is known as visceral fat. This type of fat is nothing to play with. It is biologically active and can produce an excess of hormones.

Researchers often describe it as an active organ in the body that creates hormones and inflammatory substances.

This type of fat turns into fatty acids that can get into the liver and muscle of the body, according to Lewis Kuller, MD, DPH.

This type of drainage causes various changes, such as, an increase in bad LDL cholesterol and triglycerides.

Along with this reaction, insulin stops being as effective in controlling blood sugars, which, results in insulin resistance. Insulin resistance often leads to Type 2 Diabetes and other conditions such as, heart disease.

Belly Fat In Men

One of the reasons men are more likely to have heart disease is because they tend to collect more belly fat than women, and, also earlier in life.

One study showed that too much of this type of fat in men is a risk for "all-cause mortality", which means death from any kind of cause.

Too much belly fat in men has also been linked to erectile dysfunction in men over age 60.

Belly Fat In Women

The hormonal imbalance caused by this type of fat, can also leads to breast cancer in women, where the risk is 1/3 higher than that in women without it.

It can also cause inflammation in the body. And if you know anything about inflammation you know it is the cause of a variety of different health conditions and diseases.

According to one Danish study, women are five times more likely to die from heart disease when they have lots of belly fat, large waists and high levels of fat in the blood stream.

What Causes Belly Fat?

Genetics

There are a lot of different factors that can cause someone to have an excess of belly fat. One such factor is genetics. If your parents have a lot of belly fat you are more likely to have belly fat as well. The sad truth is it can move down from generation to generation.

Hormones also play a huge role. For example, after a woman goes through menopause the hormonal changes that take place can cause fat to gather in the belly.

Poor Diet

The most common cause of belly fat is poor dietary habits and a lack of exercise. These days people live on a fast food diet and never take the time to go to the gym. This not only leads to belly fat but it can also lead to obesity. So now the question is how can you get rid of belly fat?

The first thing you need to do is get your diet in check. No more eating unhealthy fast food 5 nights a week. It's time to start cooking. You need to eat lots of fresh veggies, fruits and proteins. Things such as broccoli, spinach, carrots, oranges, pineapples, mango and chicken are all great for losing weight.

Exercise

But it's not just enough to get your diet right. You also need to start exercising. Exercising and eating right help keep your metabolism revved up. And the best part is you don't have to workout a long time to see the results.

All it takes is 30 minutes a day of intense exercise and you would be surprised how fast your body starts to change.

When you workout be sure to incorporate resistance training. The more muscle you build the more fat you will burn during a 24 hour period.

So, ladies don't be afraid to increase your muscle mass. It will go a long ways towards helping you shed those extra pounds.

Obesity Linked to Alzheimer's Disease

As obesity rates continue to climb among all age groups in Canada, we are now beginning to see an increase of chronic illness as a direct result this current obesity epidemic.

Studies have shown that increases in health markers typically associated with obesity (waist circumference, belly fat, high blood pressure and cholesterol) are now directly related to developing dementia and Alzheimer's as we age.

Scientists have long reported that the risk of cardiovascular disease, stroke, diabetes, and dementia increase directly with rising obesity rates. Now, new reports are surfacing that age-related decline in mental function and Alzheimer's disease may also be related to obesity.

Simon Ridley, of Alzheimer's Research UK states: "Obesity in midlife is a risk factor for dementia and these projections suggest that rising obesity in the UK could contribute to growing levels of dementia over the coming decades. Dementia already has an enormous impact on individuals, families and communities and it is concerning to see that this could become even greater than previously predicted."

As it turns out, what used to be thought of as normal, age-related mental decline, might simply be a side-effect of weight gain and obesity during middle age.

While it is still unclear exactly how obesity affects the brain, one theory suggests that proteins released by fatty tissues can travel across the blood-brain barrier and damage susceptible brain cells. Some have even begun to label this effect as Type 3 Diabetes, however more research still needs to be done.

Fortunately, there are steps that one can take to control obesity and improve mental function as we age.

In the past few years, there have been a number of studies that have shown the positive effects of diet and weight control on Alzheimer's and dementia.

There's evidence that adopting a Mediterranean style diet consisting primarily of vegetables, fruit, nuts, and lean meats such as fish, can reduce the incidence of age-related dementia and Alzheimer's by as much as 60%.

Keep in mind that simply losing weight is not necessarily the solution. Adopting healthy lifestyle practices such as diet and exercise are the key to healthy weight loss and potentially reversing chronic illness.

The fact remains, that when it comes to obesity, there is never a better time to begin losing weight and reclaiming your health. It's becoming more and more clear that lifestyle factors that promote and build health, have a far reaching effect into our later years.
